PG came from a poor family and his father was a rice farmer from a rural part of southern India. Upon immigrating to the United States at 18 years old, PG initiated his path by working as a dishwasher in a restaurant to fund his college education. Over the subsequent 53 years, he progressed to senior management positions, including roles such as President, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) within the technology sector. Furthermore, he has dedicated the last 6 years to serving as a member of the Eden Prairie City Council. With a wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors, PG is eager to harness his expertise, coupled with his City Council and non-profit board experiences, for the betterment of Eden Prairie.
PG's unwavering commitment to inclusivity and social progress is exemplified through his significant contributions as both a board member and former Chair of the Eden Prairie Human Rights and Diversity Commission, where he dedicated over 5 years to championing these ideals. His advocacy extends to recognizing the invaluable impact of non-profit organizations in enriching the city's social fabric. Beyond his professional achievements, PG finds profound fulfillment in his family life, having shared 40 years of marriage with his wife, Indira, and raised their two sons in Eden Prairie.
His profound analytical prowess stems from the rich soil of his educational background, where he cultivated his mind through a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. · Open, transparent, and accessible local government: Eden Prairie needs to continue to innovate and find ways to do more with fewer dollars. Keep the City financially strong with low debt, conservative budgeting, and attention to our Capital Improvement Plan (for future infrastructure needs); while maintaining a high level of service, and providing resources.
· The Environment: We need to continue to implement our Clean Energy Initiatives, organize the collection program, and water quality initiatives, reduce carbon emissions, and encourage the deployment of Solar and Electric Cars.
· Quality of life: Eden Prairie needs to continue to prioritize public safety, protecting and enhancing our parks and trails, and reinvesting in our community resources – Parks and Trails, Community Center, Senior Center, Art Center, Historic amenities. Continue working with our police chief and others to find better solutions to crime in our City.
· Transportation: We need to continue to advocate for safe and secure roads, buses, and Southwest Transit services. I will continue my service as a SW Transit Commission/board member to improve and more accessible to public transportation.
· Healthy Economy: In Eden Prairie, we need to maintain a vibrant and healthy economic environment with close partnerships between the City, the Chamber, the School District, and non-profits. Bring healthy businesses to our city and motivate businesses to remain in EP.
· Affordable Housing: We need to encourage and empower the Affordable Housing Task Force to come up with good solutions that all parties (developers, Realtors, Community Leaders, and residents) can agree on and make Eden Prairie a place to live.
· Partnering with non-profit organizations: Eden Prairie needs to continue to understand social issues and help organizations like churches, PROP, Eden Prairie Community Foundation, and others to succeed.
· Deploying technologies: As a technologist, our city needs to continue to find ways to implement new technologies to help reduce costs and improve residents’ services.
